snow walker - pen/brush and ink

We went for a hike at the weekend, aiming to climb Ben Ime. Unfortunately the snow was way too deep, waist high sometimes. Got some great pictures of the snowy landscape though, and this ink drawing is from one of them.

weird looking bird - bush with india ink and red ink

I try to draw from my own photographs or from life, but I don't have a fish. I found the source picture for this on flickr.com, although I can't find the link now.
I lightly drew the shape of the fish in pencil. I also sketched some of the shapes of the shadows, then using very diluted india ink and red ink, I painted in those shapes, and this fish appeared.

brush and ink

I've found that using brush and ink is fun, but terrifying. I sketch out the drawing lightly in pencil, taking care to get everything looking as good as I can, then I pick up the brush, dip it in the ink, and one wrong move will ruin the whole thing! No hiding any mistakes here...

A bit messy as I didn't sketch this one out first. Freehand brush and ink.

Bottle of india ink - Brush & Ink on cartridge paper.

I sketched out the picture lightly in pencil, drawing most of the light and dark areas as outlines. The lighter shades are just done with diluted india ink, which leaves some banding. At first I didn't really like the banding but now I think it adds something to the picture.

This triceratops is a lean, mean, fighting machine. His name is Tinsel.

Freehand Ink & Brush inverted drawing of a comedian - didn't know how it would turn out until I had scanned it and re-inverted it... don't think it's very recognisable.

robot on a skateboard. Brush and Ink, and digitally coloured. Check out those stupid misshapen tiny hands and feet.

It's leg came off when it was trying to perform a grind that was WAY beyond it's ability.
